This game is a great activity for students to practice their soccer dribbling control as well as their passing/kicking accuracy. The game is played with any amount of teams (I play with 4) that start at one end of the gym. To set the game up, you will need to set up cones for teams to start at and lay down hula hoops on the ground (dangerous trees) on only that half of the gym. On the other half of the gym, you will need to have at least two goals/nets set up for students to aim at. When the game starts, the first person in line for each team dribbles the ball through the dangerous forest. (Hula hoops) If a ball touches one of those hoops, they must do X amount of jumping jacks (usually 3-7) before continuing on. Once students make it through the forest, they have to stop dribbling BEFORE the half court line. If they accidentally dribble over, they have to take the ball back and cannot shoot. If they stop the ball before the half court line, they are allowed to shoot the ball at one of the goals/targets. Usually closer goals are worth 1 while farther away are worth 2 points. After a couple rounds, I also add in a bowling pin in the back middle of the court which is worth 5 points! (students love going for it since it is worth so much even if they don’t get it) Students take turns going until the time is up and are responsible for keeping their own scores. (usually 3-5 minutes per round) A good teaching aspect is to BE HONEST when keeping score and not to lie or exaggerate scores just to win. This works well mostly with grades 2-5 and can also be used for basketball dribbling around the hoops, etc.
